The city of Cebu is full of fun and adventures and lots to see and do. The city reminds me of Metro Manila with lots of traffic, malls, and places to eat.

The people in Cebu are very accommodating, especially the tour guides.

“The best roasted pig in the world” says world-renowned chef, Anthony Bourdain.

The lechon in Cebu is unique due to the combination of herbs and spices used to marinate the meat before roasting. The pig is roasted slowly over charcoal and seasoned with lemongrass, bay leaves, peppercorns, and other local ingredients. Whereas, in other regions, lechon is prepared using only salt and pepper.

Lechon at the House of Lechon is crispy and tender. It’s served with a special  sauce made from strips of the meat when roasted. House of Lechon also serves other popular Filipino dishes such as Kinilaw, a fish or seafood dish marinated in vinegar and spices.

Cebu is home to the best lechon in the Philippines. Visitors to the Philippines often make a beeline for Cebu to sample the lechon or roasted pig.

Cebu also has the best mangoes and mango products which can be enjoyed at the House of Lechon.

Our next adventure is Whale Shark Watching in Oslob and visiting the pristine Sumilon Island Sandbar.

After a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Cebu City, we arrived at Sumilon Island Sandbar in Oslob. Traveling can be tiring and I recommend getting a driver because of the distance and traffic. During breakfast we watched other tourists head out to swim with the whale sharks.

Whale sharks are the largest sharks and also the largest of any other fish alive today. They feed on plankton and travel large distances to find enough food to sustain their huge size, and to reproduce. The small town of Oslob has dedicated itself to the tourism of swimming with the whale sharks.

Tumalog Falls on Cebu Tumalog Falls is quite unique, featuring a curtain of water falling down the face of a monolithic limestone cliff. There is a large swimming area at the base of the falls where you can take a dip to cool off.

The color of the water in the basin is that classic milky blue tinge that the Philippines is most famous for. The falls are surrounded by tall bamboo and mossy walls adding to the jungle vibes that you will find here.

Inambakan Falls. Tumalog and Inambakan Falls are two of the many majestic falls in the south of Cebu. The hike down to the main Inambakan Falls takes no more than 5 minutes from the jump-off point and the trail winds upstream until it emerges at the base of the 100-foot tall waterfall.

Inambakan Falls in the tiny town of Ginatilan is one of the most popular waterfalls in South Cebu and for good reason. It’s made up of five turquoise-blue cascades in the middle of a tropical jungle, and it’s easily accessible to just about anyone. It’s a natural playground and is visited year-round by locals and tourists alike.

My favorite feature of the falls is the milky blue pool of water in the catch basin which gets its color from the limestone cliffs that surround the falls. It seriously looks inviting enough to drink!
